On the 12th, March 2017, in Baringo County, suspected Illchamus raiders attacked the Pokot residing in Partololo village in Tiaty Sub county, killing two people and also stole 30 head of cattle. On Monday 13th March, 2017, the Pokot staged
a retaliatory attack to recover their stolen animals from the Illchamus and in the process, a Police vehicle that was travelling from Mukutani to Marigat was ambushed and two elderly Pokot women who were on board were killed.
In the night of 14th March, 2017, suspected Pokot raiders in a retaliatory attack to avenge the killing of their two women who they believed were killed by the Ichamus, attacked Mukutani market within the border of Marigat and East Pokot.
The Police immediately responded and repulsed the attackers and also recovered 20 head of cattle earlier stolen by the Illchamus. The raiders attacked a Manyatta and as they fled killed five women and four children.
The ongoing security operations in the County have been intensified with a view to arresting the culprits and recovering the stolen cattle.
Meanwhile, the officers are under firm instruction to deal firmly with any law breakers in the area, especially those staging renewed retaliatory attacks.
