EAPCCO MEMBER COUNTRIES TO FORM TAEKWONDO CONFEDERATION-(2018-09- 26)

Five East African Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) member countries are meeting in Nairobi to establish the East African Chapter of African Police Taekwondo confederation.

National Police Service Sports Officer Mr. Paul Langat said the Taekwondo Confederation will incorporate the countries of Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan and Kenya whose delegates are currently meeting at the Kenya school of Government-Nairobi, for deliberations with a view to creating a constitution to govern the association for posterity.

The meeting will also elect interim officials who will run the association until new officials are elected.

Mr. Lagat said, the association will go a long way in enhancing exchange of best practices, building capacity of trainees and umpires besides accessing international police technical assistance in the sporting activity.

He said, the Taekwondo confederation will enable the member countries together with other chapters in the African continent to interact regularly with other security officers internationally to combat transnational crime.

Mr. Langat further said that in fighting such crimes, the officers will be equipped with Taekwondo skills to enable them subdue enemies with limited use of firearms.
