COUNTY POLICE COMMANDERS HOLD A CONSULTATIVE MEETING WITH THE OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR OF POLITICAL PARTIES
Today, Monday, 13th October 2025, nineteen County Police Commanders (CPCs) held a highly productive and engaging consultative meeting with the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) at the Kenya School of Government in Lower Kabete. The meeting was sponsored by The Oslo Center, an independent non-profit organization working in the fields of democratization and democratic governance to promote and enhance democratic practices by strengthening governance, political and government institutions, and civic spaces.
The Inspector General of Police, Mr.Douglas Kanja, was represented at the meeting by the Director of Corporate Communication and Spokesperson, Mr.Muchiri Nyaga, AIG. Mr.Muchiri thanked the ORPP and The Oslo Center for organizing the meeting, noting that there were many meaningful takeaways from such engagements. He encouraged the County Commanders to familiarize themselves with the mandate of the ORPP. He noted that we have a collaborative duty to work together in a multi-agency approach to ensure that political parties operate within the confines of the law. He further warned that failure to follow up on our mandate could result in violence, instability, and a breach of the peace. Finally, he wished the Commanders well as they prepare for the forthcoming by-elections.
The Deputy Registrar of Political Parties for Compliance and Regulations, Mr.Ali Abdullahi Surraw, who represented the CEO of the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, thanked The Oslo Center for their steadfast support. He acknowledged the security personnel for their unwavering commitment and professionalism in safeguarding the country. He noted that their efforts transcend traditional roles, as they are the custodians of democracy, ensuring a peaceful and stable environment. Additionally, he called on the security officers to intensify their vigilance and ensure that law and order prevail throughout the country as it approaches the 24 by-elections scheduled for Thursday, 27th November 2025.
