DIG LAGAT OFFICIALLY CLOSES THE IPA INTERNATIONAL INVESTIGATIONS SEMINAR AT NCIA, NAIROBI

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Kenya Police Service, Mr.Eliud Lagat, presided over the closing ceremony of the International Police Association (IPA) seminar on ‘Strengthening Professional Policing and Crime Management’ on 6 November 2025. The five-day seminar, held at the National Criminal Investigations Academy (NCIA) in South C, Nairobi, brought together 32 officers from various law enforcement agencies to enhance investigative competence and foster international collaboration. In his closing remarks, DIG Lagat emphasized the seminar’s timeliness in equipping officers with the necessary tools to address sophisticated contemporary challenges, such as cyber-enabled offences, transnational organized crime, financial crime, and terrorism. 

He highlighted the "invaluable" exchange of knowledge, experiences, and investigative methodologies that the programme facilitated for the global law enforcement community. Mr.Lagat commended the IPA and the NCIA management for their commitment to professional development and international cooperation. He also acknowledged the facilitators for sharing their wealth of knowledge and congratulated the participants on successfully completing the seminar. He challenged the officers to apply their new knowledge and skills in their respective commands to improve investigative outcomes, uphold respect for human rights, and enhance service delivery. 

Reiterating the National Police Service’s commitment to international cooperation, the DIG noted that partnerships such as the IPA strengthen the collective resolve to combat crime and ensure global peace and security. He concluded by encouraging participants to be ambassadors of professionalism, discipline, and dedication. Also present at the ceremony were the NCIA Commandant, Mr.Sospeter Munyi, SAIG; the IPA President, Mr.Jared Ojuok, SSP; IJM representative, Mr.Harron Gilbert; and veteran IPA member, Mr F.S. Abdalla, among other officials.
