NPS OFFICERS HONOURED BY CHANDARIA FOUNDATION FOR BRAVERY
Today, 9th December 2025, the Chandaria Foundation recognised the extraordinary courage of 20 officers from the National Police Service (NPS), presenting them with the annual Chandaria Bravery Award. The ceremony, held at NPS Headquarters, was presided over by Inspector General (IG) Mr.Douglas Kanja.
During the event, IG Kanja expressed deep gratitude to Dr.Manu Chandaria and the Foundation for their unwavering support and commitment to nurturing bravery within the Service. He emphasised that the awards serve as a beacon of hope and encouragement to all officers.
Mr.Kanja noted that officers have a sacred mandate to protect life and property, preserve order, and prevent and detect crime. He acknowledged the immense pressure and danger officers face daily, from confronting armed criminals and conducting flood rescues to de-escalating volatile situations.
He lauded the 20 officers for demonstrating extraordinary presence of mind, compassion beyond the call of duty, and unyielding resolve in the face of grave danger. Moreover, IG Kanja recommitted to enhancing the welfare, training, and working conditions of officers, noting that a motivated, equipped, and valued officer is the country's bravest asset.
Mr.Atul Kshetry, representing Dr.Manu Chandaria, congratulated the recipients and thanked the NPS for its dedication to maintaining law and order. He also extended gratitude to the officers' family members for their enduring support and sacrifice.
He was accompanied by a delegation from the Chandaria Foundation that included the Foundation Manager, Mr. Vincent Rapando; Head of Security, Mr. Isaac Jaabir Yugi; and the Head of External Affairs, Mr. Patrick Kleru.
The high-profile event was attended by several senior officers from the National Police Service, including the DIG-KPS, Mr.Eliud Lagat; the DIG-APS, Mr.Gilbert Masengeli; the Principal Assistant to the Inspector General, Mr.Mathew Kutoh, SAIG; the Principal Deputy to the DIG-APS, Dr.Masoud Mwinyi, SAIG; the Director of Personnel, NPS, Dr.Mwangi Wanderi, SAIG; the Director of Corporate Communication and NPS Spokesperson, Mr.Muchiri Nyaga, AIG; among other senior officers.
