IG KANJA JOINS CS INTERIOR FOR THE 45TH JUKWAA LA USALAMA FORUM IN WAJIR COUNTY

The Inspector General of the National Police Service (IG-NPS), Mr. Douglas Kanja, today joined the Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Hon. Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen, at the 45th Jukwaa la Usalama Forum in Wajir County. The meeting was held at the Wajir County Commissioner's grounds in Wajir Town. Today's forum is a continuation of the North Eastern Region series that began on Monday 22nd September 2025 in Mandera County. The CS gave youth leaders, religious representatives, local administrators, security officers, business community members, and political leaders an opportunity to speak openly about issues affecting Wajir County, based on their personal experiences. This style of engagement has been the driving force behind the forums since their inception earlier this year.

Furthermore, the CS thanked the people of Wajir for the unity and togetherness they have shown in tackling crime. He particularly highlighted their collaboration with security agencies for the collective good, acknowledging that this has made Wajir County one of the safest places in the country, with minimal crime reported. For his part, the IG praised the people of Wajir for their excellent cooperation with the NPS, which has made policing the area significantly more effective. Addressing the officers present, the IG emphasized that their primary reason for being in Wajir County is to provide the best possible service, as freely as their duty requires. Looking ahead, the IG stated his desire to see even stronger collaboration on policing issues between the public and the police. He also assured the officers that he had taken note of concerns regarding their welfare, with the aim of enhancing their capabilities.

Earlier in the morning, the IG accompanied the CS on a courtesy call to the Governor of Wajir, H.E. Ahmed Abdullahi, who later attended the entire forum. Also present were elected leaders, led by the local Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Mohamed Aden Daudi.
