IG-NPS JOINS CS INTERIOR AND NATIONAL ADMINISTRATION IN SECURITY ASSESSMENT OF MARSABIT COUNTY

Inspector General (IG) of the National Police Service (NPS), Mr. Douglas K. Kanja, joined the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for the Interior and National Administration, Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, in a security assessment of Marsabit County under the Jukwaa la Usalama platform.
During the forum, the CS was briefed by residents on a wide range of issues and assured them that the forum serves as a key service-delivery initiative. He emphasised that he would continue to engage with them and address their needs.
Additionally, Hon. Murkomen viewed a sample display of assorted firearms, ammunition, and narcotic drugs exhibited at Marsabit Police Station, demonstrating the robust efforts being undertaken by security agencies in this vast county.
While addressing the forum, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja, called on Marsabit residents to collaborate with law enforcement to foster safer and more secure communities.
IG Kanja also commended police officers for their unwavering commitment to public safety and security, instructing them to remain vigilant and act decisively against human trafficking, arms smuggling, and drug trafficking.
He further urged officers to embrace community policing while aligning with the transformation agenda outlined in the National Police Service 2023–2027 Strategic Plan, which places safety and security at the heart of its mission.
In attendance were the Regional Commissioner for Eastern, Mr. Paul Rotich, General Service Unit (GSU) Commandant, Mr. Ranson Lolmodooni, SAIG, Director of Corporate Communication/Spokesperson, Mr. Muchiri Nyaga, AIG, Regional Criminal Investigations Officer for Eastern, Mr. Michael Sang, CP, and  County Police Commander for Marsabit, Mr. Leonard Kimaiyo, CP.
