DIG LAGAT CONGRATULATES NPS ATHLETICS TEAM
The Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of the Kenya Police Service, Mr.Eliud Lagat, on behalf of the Inspector General (IG) of Police, Mr.Douglas Kanja, delivered a congratulatory message to the National Police Service Cross-Country Championship athletics team. This followed the team's exceptional performance at the recently concluded AK/Betika National Cross Country Championship. The team secured the top positions in the 10km senior men's and women's races, while individual efforts saw them win the 10km men's and women's races, as well as the 2km loop men's race. Mr.Lagat commended the officers for their dedication to the competition and for winning the majority of the awards.
He noted that the National Police Service currently dominates most sports in the country. He cited the examples of Kenya Police FC and Kenya Police Bullets, who are the current football champions. Police teams in volleyball and kabaddi are also triumphing in their respective competitions. Additionally, Mr.Lagat remarked that such dominance in the sports arena by the men and women in uniform is as a result of significant dedication, discipline, and sacrifice. He encouraged the athletes to adopt these same virtues. The DIG thanked the NPS Organizing Committee and the coaches for training and mentoring the athletes ensuring that they performed excellently. He assured the team of the National Police Service's full support and wished them the very best as they prepare for the World Athletics Cross-Country Championship in Tallahassee, Florida, USA, in January 2026.
