IG KANJA ATTENDS SECOND DAY OF SECURITY ASSESSMENT WITH CS INTERIOR IN EL WAK, MANDERA COUNTY
The Inspector General of the National Police Service (IG-NPS), Mr. Douglas Kanja, Yesterday, 23rd September 2025, joined the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Hon. Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen, for the second day of an extended Jukwaa La Usalama Forum in Mandera County. This extension is due to the unique security dynamics prevalent in the county. Today's forum was held in El Wak, Mandera Central, approximately 170 kilometres from yesterday's event in Mandera Town. Five sub-counties were represented: Mandera Central, Mandera West, Kotulo, Kiliwehiri, and Dandu. During the session, the business community, religious leaders, local residents, administrative officers, and security officials sat together to discuss the specific security challenges facing the community.
The CS reminded all present that peaceful coexistence is imperative, particularly concerning resource sharing and peace building. Addressing administrative and police officers, as well as other national and county government officials, the CS demanded that all must shun corruption and focus on service delivery. For his part, the IG thanked the CS for the vibrant engagement, which has focused on security assessment and improvements for the public. He lauded the police officers working under extreme conditions and promised to prioritize their welfare to enable them to continue serving with diligence and commitment.
In attendance were the Governor of Mandera County, H.E. Mohamed Adan Khalif, and the MP for Mandera South Constituency, Hon. Abdul Ebrahim Haro. Also present were the Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service (DIG-APS), Mr. Gilbert Masengeli; the Director, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mr. Mohamed I. Amin; the Commandant of the General Service Unit (GSU), Mr. Ranson Lolmodooni, SAIG; the Regional Commissioner for the North Eastern Region, Mr. John Otieno; the Regional Police Commander for the North Eastern Region, Mr. Pepita Ranka, AIG; and the NPS Director of Corporate Communications/Spokesperson, Mr. Muchiri Nyaga, AIG.
