NPS HOLDS SUB-COUNTY AND STATION COMMANDERS’ STRATEGIC MEETING AND MENTAL WELLNESS PROGRAMME IN KISII COUNTY
The Kisii County Police Commander, Mr. Ronald Kirui (CP), in collaboration with the County Criminal Investigations Officer, Ms. Catherine Njue (CP), convened a strategic meeting and mental wellness programme for National Police Service (NPS) officers on 3 June 2025 at the Kisii University Amphitheatre. The forum brought together key leadership figures from across the county, including all Sub-County Police Commanders, eight Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officers, two Sub-County Administration Police Commanders, five Base Commanders, and thirty-two Police Station Commanders. Dr. Rose Otieno, a clinical psychologist and lecturer at Kisii University, led a session on mental health and wellness, emphasizing the importance of psychological resilience and emotional well-being among officers.
Representing the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Principal Prosecution Counsel Ms. Victorine Kitoto engaged the commanders on best practices in professional investigations. She highlighted the vital link between investigations and prosecution, as well as the importance of inter-agency collaboration for the successful delivery of justice. The officers also reviewed data on the ongoing crackdown against illicit brews and narcotic drugs in the region. Strategies to sustain and intensify this fight were presented and discussed. Additional topics covered included, criminal investigations, gender-based violence, execution of court orders, and performance appraisals. In his address, County Commander Mr. Kirui urged the officers to demonstrate strong leadership, command, and control in their respective jurisdictions while upholding the highest standards of professionalism in service delivery.
