SEIZURE OF NARCOTIC DRUGS IN SAMBURU
A multi-agency security team—comprising officers from Archers Post Police Station, National Police Reservists (NPR), and rangers from the Samburu National Reserve (SNR)—acted on intelligence received yesterday, 30th July 2025 regarding a suspicious white Toyota Probox with an unknown registration number, reportedly travelling from Isiolo towards Marsabit. Further intelligence indicated that the vehicle had been sighted near the Waso Nyiro River, where armed individuals were seen offloading luggage.
The team swiftly proceeded to the location and spotted four individuals pushing the luggage towards the riverside. Upon noticing the officers, the suspects opened fire, prompting an exchange of gunfire. The suspects managed to escape into the nearby bush. Following a search of the scene, officers recovered two green sacks containing several yellow and grey cello-taped bundles suspected to be cannabis sativa. Upon weighing, the consignment was confirmed to be 62.65 kilograms, with an estimated street value of Kshs. 1,879,500. The recovered narcotics have been secured as exhibits pending further police action, while efforts to track and apprehend the suspects continue.
The National Police Service appeals to members of the public who may have any information regarding the suspects' identities or whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or security agency.
