KENYA WINS MORE GOLD MEDALS IN ADDIS ABABA.

Star studded Abel Kipsang and 2023 Bathurst World Cross Country champion Daniel Simiu Ebenyo today led the gold harvest for Kenya in the ongoing Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization games in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Kipsang, the 2022 Belgrade World Indoor bronze medalists in the 1500m proved his prowess in the event when he stormed for Gold leaving the other Eastern Africa nations fighting for the rest of the positions, while Ebenyo silenced the home crowd when he sprinted to the finish line in the last lap of 10000m. He was closely followed by his fellow countryman Joseph Kiptum who took silver. Equally, Kenya spared no medal in the women's 100m race when Millicent Ndoro, Eunice Kadogo and Monicah Safania swept the entire field to bag gold, silver and bronze respectively. As if that wasn't enough, Ronald Koech and George Njenga scooped gold and bronze respectively in the 100m men.
Meanwhile, Erastus Mbaluka made a crucial statement at the Abebe Bikila Stadium after making a spirited sprint from start to finish to secure a gold medal for Kenya in the men's 400m finals. Racing fast in third place was the very gifted William Rayian who settled for bronze, letting an Ethiopian console the hosts with a silver. In 400m women, Chepchumba Gloria and Joan Cherono scooped gold and bronze respectively to add to Kenya's medal standings. In the field events, Roseline Rakamba cemented her undisputed position in Eastern Africa when she bagged gold in women's discus, while Duncan Kinyanjui took no chances in the men's javelin. In just his second throw, the Kenyan spear-master left the other athletes no room for recovery. Kenya now sits at the top of the medal standings with 9 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 7 bronze medals. With several disciplines still to be completed, the medal hunt continues tomorrow, Wednesday, April 30.
