NPS ATHLETICS TEAM PRESENTS TROPHIES TO IG KANJA

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja, today hosted athletes and members of the NPS Sports Local Organizing Committee (LOC) at his Jogoo House ‘A’ office. The team presented trophies won during the recently concluded AK/BETIKA National Cross Country Championship. He congratulated the athletes on their exemplary performance, which continues to reflect positively on the National Police Service (NPS) and brings immense honour and pride. The police team emerged as the best out of 19 teams that participated in the tournament, producing 11 athletes who will represent the country at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida, USA, in January 2026.

Recognizing sport as a key unifying factor, not only within the Service but also in bridging the gap between the Service and the public, IG Kanja encouraged the athletes to stay on course and uphold high standards of discipline and integrity both on and off the track. Moreover, he noted that even as the Service celebrates the milestones achieved so far, it remains committed to nurturing a vibrant, inclusive, and highly motivated sporting fraternity. This will empower athletes at all levels, promote teamwork and excellence, and ensure sustained growth and success across all disciplines.

The meeting was also attended by the Principal Assistant to the Inspector General, Mr. Mathew Kutoh, SAIG; the Chairman of the NPS Athletics Committee, Mr. Francis Ndiema, SAIG; the Director of Corporate Communications/NPS Spokesperson, Mr. Muchiri Nyaga, AIG; and LOC Members including Ms. Eunice Dobby, CP, Mr. Joseph Chirchir, CP, and Mr. Isaac Sang,CP, among other officers.
