POLICE FOIL DRUG TRAFFICKING ATTEMPT IN MERU

Following a tip-off earlier today, 13th October 2025, officers from the National Police Service intercepted a Public Service Vehicle with the registration number KCS 884N. The vehicle was traveling from Nairobi to Maua. Upon conducting a thorough search, the officers discovered approximately 25 kilograms of a substance suspected to be the narcotic drug cannabis sativa. The drugs had been concealed in a black suitcase, a black backpack, and a white carrier bag.

The driver claimed the luggage belonged to two of his passengers. The suspects were arrested and taken to Meru Police Station, where they are awaiting processing and arraignment in court. National Police Service commends the swift and coordinated efforts of the officers involved in the operation. The Service reiterates its commitment to the ongoing fight against drug trafficking and other illicit activities that threaten the safety and well-being of communities. Members of the public are urged to continue sharing timely information to assist in combating such criminal activities.
