STOLEN LIVESTOCK RECOVERED IN TURKANA – CROSS-BORDER PEACE REAFFIRMED

A swift multi-agency operation led to the recovery of stolen livestock along the Kenya-Ethiopia border. On 10 August 2025, a security team led by Kokuro ACC Mr Evans Kimoni and the Kokuro Police Station Deputy OCS, working closely with local chiefs and county government officials, recovered eight cattle at the Lowaat border point between Kibish, Kenya, and Dassanech Woreda, Ethiopia. The animals had been stolen from Welegech on 6 August 2025 by suspected bandits. In a coordinated cross-border operation, the cattle were returned to the Kenyan administration without incident. Kenyan and Ethiopian authorities used the opportunity to reaffirm their joint commitment to peace, security, and cooperation along the shared border.
